How to Reuse and Recycle Your Gutters

In a world that’s going green, it’s important to reuse and recycle as much as you can rather than create waste by throwing things into the trash. This applies to plastic milk cartons, old newspapers, and even your gutters. Yes, you heard that right. These are plenty of easy ways to reuse and recycle your gutters around your home!

Turn Them Into Planters

Use tin snips to cut a length of the gutter to fit your windowsill or area you’re placing them. Secure end caps onto them with a crimping tool and caulk the edges to totally seal them. Then just pour in some potting soil, and pick out your favorite flowers or herbs, and voila.

Create Bookshelves

If you have little ones who loves storytime, recycle your gutters into shelves that are closer to the ground so your kids can pick out their own books. Simply cut a length of a gutter, cap off the ends, and use fasteners to attach them to your wall.

Wrangle Loose Cables

If your desk at home has a plethora of loose cables hanging from it, uses gutters to solve the problem. Attach a gutter length to the underside of your desk to hold all the wires. Now you won’t have to worry about accidentally getting your foot tangled in them.

Make a Drink Trough

This one requires a bit of measuring, but it’s so worth it. Replace the center board of a picnic table with a gutter length and securely fasten it to the table. Fill it with ice and your drink of choice, and you don’t even have to get up from the table to quench your thirst!

While it’s great to recycle your gutters once they’ve run their course, it’s even better to keep them in good condition while you’re still using them. Keystone Gutter Helmet’s gutter protection system protects your gutters from debris and keeps them working well for longer! For more information or to get a free quote, call us at 610-372-4383.
